Pulmonic valve surgery less common than aortic valve surgery due to the low pressures on the right side of the heart. Surgery is usually recommended if valve problems cannot be controlled with medication alone. In general, valve repair is preferred over valve replacement whenever possible. The advantages of valve repair include freedom from lifelong blood thinners, also known as anticoagulants. The decision to replace or repair a pulmonic valve is complex, and should be discussed with a cardiac surgeon. Please call (888) 565-8224 to schedule a consultation with one of our surgeons.
